There's a buzz in the air! It could be the coming of spring ...
but we think it's the coming of PHA's International Conference and
Scientific Sessions. There's a lot of excitement building in the
community and in the PHA office with conference less than three months
away and preparations in full swing. So much is going on that we wanted
to bring you a PHANews dedicated solely to Conference. Throughout the
spring look for new information in the "Conference News" box on the top
left of the PHA homepage, the Conference website and in PHA News. We can't wait to see you in Houston!

DINNER SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED! |
|
 Valerie McLaughlin, M.D., and Michael McGoon, M.D., will be headlining the 2008 Conference as the featured dinner speakers.
At the "Journey of Hope and Discovery" dinner on Friday, June 20,
Dr. McLaughlin will speak about the recent advances in understanding
and treating pulmonary hypertension, focusing on future developments in
the field.
As current Chair of PHA's Board of Trustees, Dr. McGoon will share
his unique perspective on the evolution of PHA as an organization and a
community, and what this means for the future, at the "Progress of the
Past, Promise of the Future" dinner taking place on Saturday, June 21.
Carl Hicks, PHA's Chair-Elect, will give the Conference Opening and Keynote address on Friday, June 20.
Look for more information coming soon on panels that will be
featured at other Conference meals: "Snapshots from Around the World,"
"Journeys with PH" and "The Next Generation of PHA Leaders," where
members of the PH community discuss how they accomplished the
extraordinary by getting involved with PHA. |
| HOW WILL YOU SHARE YOUR JOURNEY OF HOPE AND DISCOVERY? |
|
 Through Conference Journeys, you'll have three interactive and fun ways to share your Conference experience as well as your story about living with PH.
1)
Share your stories now about past Conference experiences or reasons why
you are excited to attend this year. Stories can be emailed to Nathan
at Nathan@PHAssociation.org, and will be shared with the PH community on the Conference website.
2) Look for the Conference Journeys station in the exhibit area at Conference, where you'll be able to enter your Journey story about your conference experience or living with PH into a computer or write it out by hand.
3) Share your Journey
with a "PH filmmaker," an exciting and completely new component for
Conference. Beginning soon, PHA will identify a group of Conference
attendees who will use over a dozen ultra-portable digital video
cameras to capture Journeys at Conference! These "PH filmmakers" will film their fellow conference attendees both candidly and at a pre-arranged Journeys "Studio." This is the beginning of a whole new era for Our Journeys!
After Conference, all Journeys
stories -- both written and recorded on video -- will be featured in a
special section of the PHA website where they will continue to share
discoveries and build hope within the PH community. Stay posted to PHANews and the Conference website to learn more about Conference Journeys in the coming weeks! |
| "LIVING WITH A PUMP" FASHION SHOW MODELS NEEDED |
|
 Do
something different and be part of the fun -- sign up to model at the
"Living with a Pump" Fashion Show! We need women, men (yes, men, too)
and children who want to show off the ingenious ways they hide or
flaunt their pumps. Models will need to bring four of their favorite
outfits (three casual and one special occasion) with them to Conference.
To get on the runway, e-mail Jillian Timm at Jillian@PHAssociation.org with each model's name, age and phone number. The Fashion Show will take place on Saturday, June 21 at 5 pm. |
